Specifically, on the social podcasting app Callin. House of Strauss remains as a place where I can keep doing long form conversations with intriguing media types. What’s cool about Callin is that I’ll get to interact with all of you. My basic take on it is that it’s like Clubhouse, but more intuitively functional and way less ephemeral (the live pods can be saved and edited for later consumption).
So here’s my plan. On Wednesday nights, I’m effectively doing a live Syncing Up with comedy writer and dear friend Matt Klinman. We’ll talk politics, tech, and media. Come one, come all to our first show this Wednesday at 8 p.m. PST. The topic will be Audience Capture, which friend of the Stack Jesse Singal thoughtfully wrote about. Will Jesse be there? I’m not sure, so I’m preemptively accusing him of ducking my rhetorical flourishes, as I am pro audience capture. Freddie deBoer is scheduled to arrive and I’ve put out the bat signal out to other sharp luminaries. Should be fun, the adjective attributed to all successful podcasts.
Thursdays will be Sports Night, where NBA and general sports industry talk will happen. Amin Elhassan will present for our first Sports Night episode, along with some other friends from that neck of the woods. Should have the feel of the old days, for those of you who watched our livestreams from years and years ago.
You all are the key ingredients here, by the way, because audience participation makes the pods go on Callin. While I can’t exactly predict how all of this will progress as time goes on, I’m excited by the possibilities here. So, feel free to stop by and I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Again, here’s the link.
Edit: And here’s the archived podcast.
Right on, 2 of my fave Ethan guests! Will episodes still make it onto the HoS podcast feed? Do I need to use Callin app and listen live or can I use my normal podcast app for the archived audio?
I love this for you. 👍🏻 I will listen to the first episode especially because Freddie will be on, but probably not live bc it’s late for EST.
