Anecdotal evidence incoming. I love this. I am a long-time premium Breaking Points subscriber and identify very closely with Krystal's and Ryan's politics, i.e. left of liberal, very critical of dem party. But I really like Saagar and Emily. In the same way that Ethan turned me on to Fifth Column, I hope a lot of the HoS politically-minded subscribers tune in to BP. I disagree with Saagar on maybe 60-70% of his views (I'm reluctant to call them takes because they are very well thought out as he described about his "take" on the value of protests.) But I take everything he says very seriously because he is authentic, stands by his views but is willing to change his mind, engages everyday in good faith, reasoned debate with Krystal or Ryan. While I don't agree with Saagar on one of his main points of emphasis in immigration, he has convinced me of the validity of his perspective and I can now understand and respect that position. I truly appreciate you having him on because I think BP (and his earlier project with Krystal at the Hill) represents the kind of political journalism and media that is sorely lacking. I hope that you would also invite Krystal or her partner Kyle to come on the show as well. Kyle has hella takes on independent media. Just want to put out there that there are HoS subs that really appreciate this content.

Saagar is eminently listenable and is talented but he makes the cardinal sin of confusing sophisticated for complicated.

For example, his sophisticated view on the Munich Agreement is that everything in the pop history books is wrong. The reality is that real life was definitely a lot more complicated than what’s commonly known but the basic gist is nailed. Same with World War I and many of the other examples he brought up.

As Reagan said, “There’s a difference between being simplistic and simple. A lot of very complex things are very simple if you think them through.”

Long time BP subscriber. Subscribed here because of this interview. Strongly disagree with Saagar on immigration and Krystal’s a little too left on economics for me. But I enjoy their show. Saagar’s been more honest than some other Trump supporters in accepting his failings. They’re both honest.

Saagar has foreign policy expertise and I enjoy their foreign policy sections. I’m more supportive of Ukraine funding but I’m glad they advocate for their position based on realism while still accepting the just nature of the Ukrainian cause. Agree with them broadly that Israel funding at this stage is shameful. Great to hear him on other platforms. Saagar is fun. Been enjoying him lashing out at pro-lifers lol Krystal seemed to be more sympathetic to them.
