While I'm not interested in any of these shows I enjoyed this podcast immensely. Definitely going to check out Rob's substack. Hope you can have him on again.
Very interesting conversation. I never got into all those shows referenced, with the exception of "Breaking Bad". You guys hardly touched on "The Wire", one show I have been saying for years, I gotta just sit down and watch.
You certainly have me paying attention more to generational themes, Ethan. I really liked the reference to Christopher Caldwell's book "The Age of Entitlement". I'm familiar with Perlstein's "Nixonland" and his work, but wasn't as familiar with Caldwell's work.
Probably only listened to a handful of your pods since I joined your Substack, but always enjoy book references. Like your "free association" with Jonathan Tjarks, talking about reading old westerns, and military books.
If you really want to be extra, create show notes like Tim Ferriss does after every single one of his podcasts LOL.

Love hearing that. Gotta get Rob back some time.
That was interesting
