The Sports Media Can’t Explain the Enes Kanter Issue

I find it hard to disagree with the following widespread sports media sentiment:

Back in 2021, I wrote a piece titled, “The Conservative Cringefest Over Enes Kanter” on how it’s foolish for the right to get behind such a fool. Former Republican Senate candidate Royce White seems of low quality in less benign ways. These two former first round NBA picks are applying to enter the WNBA under the clear farce that they’ve recently transitioned to “woman.” And this action is being cheered on by activists whose main cause is a barrier between “male” and “female” in women’s sports?

So what’s going on? Is this an act of flagrant hypocrisy from the “save women’s sports” crowd? Or is there a point to what could be more understood as a prank than attempt at progress? If you don’t want men in women’s sports, why would you cheer their inclusion in this instance? There are easily understandable dynamics here, not that it’s easy to find them explained in many media outlets.
