Radical Boomer Theory in Original Sin
The “Mission Delegation” reason for why Nike and Biden produced woke results
I’ve not read Original Sin, the controversial Alex Thompson + Jake Tapper retrospective on the attempted coverup of Joe Biden’s presidential senility. I’m aware that Thompson did uncommonly objective reporting on the campaign, during the campaign. I’m aware that Tapper is getting a lot of heat for doing a “now they tell us,” after playing defense against what casual observers could plainly see.
I’m also aware that Matt Yglesias, whose Slow Boring Substack was reputed to be mandatory reading for Biden officials, has drawn similar criticism to Tapper. I’m not here to inveigh against these figures, but more to observe that Yglesias has recently asked a pertinent question in the aftermath of whatever this all was. In a Monday post titled, “What we don't learn in ‘Original Sin’” Matt wondered about the “central enigma” of the Biden administration: If the inner circle was so old and supposedly moderate, then why were its choices pretty radical? I’m no expert political journalist, but based on my observation of other large institutions, I’ve got my theory.
