Some of you may know my friend Jade Hoye, producer of my old podcasts and of many others in the NBA media space. On the night before Thanksgiving, Jade got into a very serious car accident and the crash left him with brain injuries of which he’s a ways away from recovering. While we’re all extremely grateful that Jade survived the wreck, he’s been unable to care for his three children, and is in need of extensive care himself.
Ben Aronson, a mutual friend, has set up this GoFundMe for Jade’s family. Jade’s wife Kristi is really good people, and she could use some help as their family recovers from all this. For good measure, I’m displaying the GoFundMe again.

Jade is one of those irrepressible personalities, a guy who brings people together with his energy and enthusiasm. On a personal note, he’s the main reason I got into podcasting at all, and he’s been an ardent supporter of where I’ve taken my career, even when some other friends and colleagues didn’t totally get it. I just wish I could be there for him like he’s been there for me. More than that, I just wish I could bring him all the way back. Hopefully, in some small way, we all can.
I am so sad to hear this. Jade is a wonderful person - back in 2019 I was a huge fan of the Friday Count the Dings show, and eventually I contacted him responding to some of the discussion. We talked on the phone and he invited me on the show, Matt from Tas. I was on a few times, once for the whole show, and he said I could be on whenever I wanted, but doing it at 3am was killing me so I didn't continue even though shooting the shit with that crew was one of the highlights of my life. Jade and I continued to email and always got along well. Such an interesting man, someone who gives so much to others, and a true glue-guy - he brings like-minded others together to form a greater whole. All the best to Jade, his family, and friends, in this tough time. Get well soon, Jade.
Ethan, you can thank Jade for my monthly subscription.
From Truehoop, to Count the Dings, to The Athletic, the group of people around him was always special. I kept following Jade around the media landscape, knowing that wherever I found him, something special would be happening. Looking back, I’m so grateful to have gone on that journey😊 thanks for all the distractions, the laughs, the peace of mind, and the companionship over the years, Jade. The og super producer. Get well soon.
