I'll Be Live Podding With Substack CEO Chris Best
What should we talk about this Wednesday at 11 am PST?
Some of you have suggested that I alert subscribers when doing a non HoS podcast. Well, here’s the bat signal for Substack co-founder Chris Best’s “Live at Noon” pod. Despite the podcast’s name, we’ll technically be going on at 11 am PST Wednesday. See you there!
Oh, and I almost forgot…what should we discuss?
If you want to watch along live, you'll need the Substack app for iOS or Android. For those that miss it I'll likely publish a cleaned up version after at my personal substack, cb.substack.com that will work as a video/podcast/etc.
Would Substack ever want to slightly alter their model, where someone could pay a subscription fee to Substack itself for lets say their 10 favorite Substack Writers? It wouldn't be quite the same as Medium, but for me paying $99 a year for HoS plus $50 a year for Freddie deBoer, plus a few other writers, I'm legit paying $300-500 per year for just a handful of writers exclusive content on here. Is there a way I could access more writers for the same price, where everyone benefits from having more access to more great content on Substack?
If not, I would love to hear why that is not something that is being considered (even just internally). I'm also curious to know the long-term outlook for Substack, too. I'm under the impression that despite all the amazing things Substack has to offer its readers and writers, there are still only a finite number of newsletters that are real money makers.
