I wrote about Caitlin Clark’s Nike non saga (so far) this week, so I was primed to watch her playoff run, such as it was. On the night Clark’s Fever were eliminated by the Connecticut Sun, Ryan Glasspiegel and I podcasted about all the madness surrounding the consciously uncontroversial phenom.
Why does WNBA media (and culture) seem to have a victim complex over the introduction of new fans? Are the fans, on balance, as bad as some pundits are depicting? And what’s with the viciousness certain media members have shown towards USA Today reporter Christine Brennan over asking questions about an incident of interest? (Note: We forgot to mention that Brennan is writing a book about Clark, which is an aspect of context that doesn’t change our points, but could be germane to some of the backlash she received).
Oh, and we also discuss some NFL broadcast topics. Enjoy!
