The players saying they would be better than the players who played 50 years ago if they went back in a time machine is one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard and the funniest thing is they think they are making an astute point. Of course you would be, you moron. All sprinters today would beat Jesse Owens. Does that make them a greater track star than Jesse Owens? Some associate professor at Cal has more scientific knowledge than Isaac Newton.

Ethan's point that NBA players want everything good that comes with it but none of the responsibility or bad stuff that comes with it is true and funny. "We pay you guys a lot of money. All Star weekend is really important to our fans and our corporate partners. Do you think you could give just a tiny bit of effort?" No. "You make $50 million. You sit out every other game, which we never complain about publicly. You've had multiple public gun incidents. Guns are not really the vibe we are going for. We're not asking you to stop celebrating but do you think you could just come up with a different celebration than shooting people with a shotgun?" No.

Jai saw your comment and said checkmate. No more gun celebrations, instead I’ll do a grenade celebration.

Ethan only really is “harsh” on Lebron. Which is great. He deserves it. All the Bronsexuals need to hear it

I personally think LeBron has done himself no favors in the GOAT talk. As corny as Kobe was, at least Kobe never pretended to like everyone until he came back from that final devastating injury. MJ was always must see TV. But, its interesting to think how LeBron is a child star. Maybe we should break LeBron's career into three parts, each consisting of 8 seasons.

PART 1 - Junior and Senior year of HS + first 6 years in the league; = 1 MVP and 1 Finals appearance

PART II - Last year on the Cavs + 4 years on the Heat + 3 years back on the Cavs; = 3 MVPs, 3 Finals MVPs 7 Finals appearances

PART III - Last year on the Cavs (again) + 7 years on the Lakers = 1 Finals MVP and 2 Finals appearances.

You could say PART I is an A Career

PART II - is an A++ Career

PART III is an A- Career

It averages all out to an A Career!

I mean how would you grade MJs Wizards years?? That has to lower his average to some extent.

You should go back and read/watch more about his time with the Wizards. He played great, considering his age, how much time he took off, and the players around him (which he can be blamed for). I think the team improved by 15-20 wins. He had 8 40 point games with the Wizards in a league where scoring was down. He even had a 50 point game. In his last season he played all 82 games. I’m not a fan of report grades but I would give him a B+ or A-. I don’t think there’s anyway you can give him a B or lower.

I hear there is a MJ Wizards Documentary that was in the works. I sure hope so, because I can't wait to see it. And I agree his Wizards years were fascinating. But, lets not forget that Vince Carter was pressured to give up his starting spot in the 2003 ASG for MJ. Imagine if that happened during this hyperconnected internet age? This would be such fodder for those that rank LeBron over MJ. Blowhards like Nick Wright woulda had a field-day with it.

If he is an all-time top 10-12 player, with 3 in his back pocket, traditionally speaking Jokic should ascend past MVP consideration. It is beneath his stature.

Really enjoy you and Justin, but the NBA media landscape absolutely is nastier. You've got guys like Curry and Tatum being savaged for not winning Finals MVPs during their championship runs! You've got "Get up" analyzing Tatum's face like the Zapruder film over and over while Brown receives the award. It's totally deranged. And that, like a lot of the worst of this stuff, was instigated by a former player (in Udonis Haslem). When the players talk about media, they aren't referring to Jeff Zillgitt.

What's funny about Laker "tradition" is that it attracts huge numbers of casual fans whose grip on past and present alike is often quite tenuous. It's a "tradition" in constant danger of becoming the victim of its own success, off the court and occasionally on it too. Ditto sports in general, I suppose. (But yeah, I hate admitting it but the curtain-drop thing is actually pretty cool.)
