The only Volume podcast I listen to is Middlekauff's. Do the other ones have the incredible amount of commercials that his has? I don't begrudge them, I get they have to pay the bills, but it makes me less likely to listen b/c it's annoying to have to skip ahead 2 minutes every 4 minutes
The only one I listen to is Chris Mannix's boxing podcast. There are a bunch of ads at the beginning, but once the show starts there aren't anymore after that. I am guessing not too many people listen to a boxing podcast these days, so the more popular shows probably have more ads.
I have almost no notes on this, great conversation, fun to listen to...
However there is an odd disconnect saying:
"Durant would beat Jordan or whoever in one-on-one, but dot dot dot"
...and then a second later he is compared to Rodgers, a guy who it was very fashionable to call the most talented quarterback of all time, or the guy you'd take overall #1 of all time. Durant has won nothing outside of the Warriors and basically squandered his career and the greatest QB ever has one Super Bowl appearance.
If you had to bet your life on Kevin Durant going one on one against Jordan, YOU WOULDN'T PICK DURANT BECAUSE YOU'VE SEEN HIM FAIL A MILLION TIMES. You might be wrong, but you'd have to have a death wish to pick him. The two most prominent weirdo selfish loner great players haven't had the careers people thought
It drives me nuts whenever you bring up the 2022 election Ethan. You always talk about 2022 like it was legit and discuss how it was a surprise.
Could you please just look at Arizona and the nonsense that went on there? This wasnt a one off, there are plenty of other irregularities in other states/districts- with ballot harvesting and vote by mail- none of these elections should be taken at face value. It deserves a bit of skepticism.
Disagree. I like when HoS goes into politics. I don't want only politics here, but I do appreciate hearing some political takes from nonmainstream voices whose opinions I respect.
Very good conversation. I was intrigued by the discussion of superstars. Living in the area that Aaron Rogers is from, I have seen so much generosity from him. Just last week another 100 k given to fire victims -2 million a few months ago to a cancer center. He is self centered and marches to his own beat but he gives more for his community than most. That’s why these guys are interesting.
A long term vet that had 4 regular season plays with his new team. I see all other qbs in camp. You asked for an example I gave you one. Asked and answered.
The whole thing where Rodgers kept stringing the media along with him coming back from his achilles waaaaay ahead of schedule, when everyone knew he was full of it, was pretty self-centered. There was also the Jets/Chiefs SNF game where he magically showed up when he had been absent for all their games leading up to that point just to try to wrangle some of the attention away from Taylor Swift.
The guy just likes attention and wants to make it all about himself and is more transparent about it than your average superstar. This alone doesn't make him a bad guy but his desperation is palpable.
Interesting discussion about Lebron leaving Cleveland. At the time cowherd was on sports nation which I loved at the time. His cohost Michele Beadle KILLED lebron for the move. It was kind of her thing at the time.
Colin noticing ‘the right’ is more skeptical of government—which wasn’t the case in the 80’s is a take a chimp could make. The fact he voices it as “interesting” shows he behind he is.
Yep, that was weird! A better example might be my dad, ex-hippie and NYT lifetime reader, remarking that he found it tough to think of the FBI as “the good guys” during Russiagate.
Ethan looks like he’s in court testifying

I put a large amount of Rodgers's lack of playoff success on his being handcuffed by having Mike McCarthy as his coach, but this is a fair point.

Mike Lindell has joined the chat...
Did you ever manage to find those bamboo fibers that you were sure were there and would prove the ballots came from China? I'll wait.
No. Ethan, dont do that. No one listening to EoS from politics. There are other shows for that

Agree. just mean to say No one wants Ethan doing deep dives on election irregularities…

How is Rodgers self centered? Could you give examples of that?

Skipping minicamp when you are a long term vet coming off achillies? If you are making judgment vales on character based on this- ok-

Used to enjoy Colin, but he’s entered the “I’m the smartest guy in the room territory”. No longer listen to him
