Well, Tyler, this is a great topic, but I gotta say…I slightly disagree with your conclusion here. Initially, when seeing the backlash to Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s Benedictine College commencement speech, I assumed something closer to your perspective. I’d come across instant reactions to Butker talking about “masculinity” and figured that his statements were merely Media Controversial, as opposed to Actually Controversial. Then I listened to the entirety of Butker’s 20 minute address and came away thinking, “Whoa! This is Actually Controversial!”
