Dame Time and Woj vs. Le Batard

Sorting out what's true and not true when a reporter mixes an agenda with real info

I enjoy Dan Le Batard going at Woj over the Damian Lillard trade standoff. I’m into it for sheer entertainment reasons, plus I appreciate the candor regarding a media figure that few outside this site tend to be all that honest about.

Oddly, though, for all I’ve criticized the conflicts of interest held by ESPN’s most prominent NBA newsbreaker, I’m not certain where his writing has been technically wrong here. And that’s where the story is interesting to me. Adrian Wojnarowski’s reported this standoff with a Blazers’ gloss, but done so in a way that’s at least grounded in some reality. I’d even argue that, ironically, he’s performed an odd trick in this instance: In being so biased as to grind an axe against an enemy, he’s exposed far more NBA truth than in his usual spiel. Let’s get into it.
