The Pandemic Story Sports Wants to Forget

I’ll start by saying that I don’t expect you to read this post. I don’t expect it because that’s how I handle articles that broach the pandemic. It’s not an ideological issue for me, at all. Instead, it’s visceral, like nausea from the scent of a dish that just gave me food poisoning. It’s probably why, until 2020, we’d heard so little about the devastating influenza outbreak of 1918. After it’s over, few want to revisit that past.

But Aaron Rodgers is, in NBA parlance, a different dude. To discuss him in this context is like retelling some old Yiddish joke that doesn’t quite translate. Here’s a guy who really can’t let things go. What can’t he let go? Oh, just the worst thing to ever happen in our lifetimes. When Rodgers is slamming Anthony Fauci on Pat McAfee’s show in the sunny splendor of a Steelers Training Camp, part of me (the lib part?) winces. Oh, there he goes again. But is he wrong to not let it go?
